Derek Delaney, Artistic Director

An arts leader for almost twenty-five years, Artistic Director Derek Delaney founded Capital Region Classical in 2018 as the successor to the venerable Union College Concert Series where he served in the same capacity since 2012. The series presents some of the leading classical musicians in the world and serves thousands of people in New York’s Capital Region.

He was a part of some 100 annual performances, working with each management team and board in all aspects, while developing profound relationships with some of the world’s leading musicians.

Delaney began his administrative career at Arts Management Group with William Capone, a respected arts manager. He has also consulted with presenters and artists around the country in furthering their institutional and career goals. Delaney is the producer and host of the weekly radio program ‘Inside the Music’ on WMHT which illuminates composers and styles through archived series recordings.

Derek Delaney is a former professional horn player, having received his bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School and his master’s degree from Yale University, studying with James Chambers, Rainier DeIntinis and Paul Ingraham.
